U.S. exporters eye new CN Duluth intermodal ramp for potential truck savings, new options for container shipping

Regional shippers can now use the ramp at the Twin Ports of Duluth, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin, instead of (potentially) paying considerably more to have their goods trucked to the rail hub of Chicago or intermodal ramps in Minneapolis and St. Paul, run by Canadian Pacific and BNSF railways, respectively. In addition to gaining access to the Port of Prince of Rupert via the CN network, the new Duluth ramp may also open up (direct access to) the ports of Port of Halifax and Mobile, Alabama, to regional exporters for the first time.
